Add a Post in the Block Editor

1. Log In to Your WordPress Site

  • Go to: yourwebsite.com/wp-admin
  • Enter your username and password
  • Click Log In

2. Go to the Posts Section

  • From the left-hand menu, click Posts
  • Then click Add New

3. Add a Title

  • At the top, you’ll see “Add title
  • Click there and type in your blog post title

4. Start Writing Your Content

WordPress uses blocks for different types of content (text, images, headings, etc.)

  • Click where it says Start writing or type / to choose a block
  • Just start typing your paragraph
  • To add something else (like an image or heading), click the + icon

5. Add Headings (Optional, but helpful)

  • Click the + button
  • Choose Heading
  • Use H2 for main sections, H3 for subsections

6. Add Images (Optional)

  • Click the + button
  • Select Image
  • Upload a new image or choose one from the Media Library

7. Set a Featured Image (Optional, but recommended)

  • On the right side panel, find the Featured Image section
  • Click Set featured image
  • Choose or upload your image

This image usually shows up in blog listings and social media previews.


8. Choose or Add Categories and Tags

  • On the right side panel:
    • Under Categories, check the box(es) that apply, or create a new category
    • Under Tags, type in some relevant keywords and press Enter

9. Preview Your Post

  • Click the Preview button (top right)
  • Choose DesktopTablet, or Mobile to see how it looks

10. Publish Your Post

  • Happy with how it looks? Click the Publish button (top right)
  • WordPress will ask you to confirm—click Publish again

That’s it! Your blog post is now live.
